[A huff of laughter escapes him at that, even as he rolls onto his back to better track Sam as he moves about the room. As he finally makes a point of tucking an arm behind his head to make it as difficult as possible for Sam to follow through on his threat.]
You ain't tying my hair up with that.
[It's a not so smooth sidestep of the fact that Sam's calling out his relationship with Eleven. It's complicated, and still a work in progress. Easy to damage through his own lack of experience alone. At least with his sisters, he'd been the older brother. Had been the one they were told to look up to because he was family. They may not always have agreed with what he'd told them, but they'd always known it'd come from a place of love.
So while Sam may already realize just how much he cares about her, how much he wants to keep her safe, Bucky knows it's only a matter of time before she branches out further. Especially now that he knows she has other people here now who are far better suited to being the adult influence that she needs in her life. He'll support her in that. But that doesn't mean he has to like it.]
If you're so old, why you acting like such a fussy child?
[ Sam clicks his tongue, then unceremoniously slings a leg over Bucky's thighs and just sits on him. Casually, as if he's not waiting to pounce on that hair and getting ready to wrestle Bucky for it if he has to.
As you do.
He does tap the other man on the chest lightly though. ]
The girl who does the opposite of what you tell her, unless she sees you doin' it and then she's hellbent on it? Yeah, nah, I get these hair ties on her by putting them on you. I'm a genius.
[ He has a little sister too, Bucky. ]
C'mon. I'll let you use all the black ones in the future. Lemme put this bee in your bonnet just this once. Goes with your shirt, too.
[It's automatic, his free hand coming up to curl around the back of Sam's thigh. An extra point of contact because he's allowed this now.]
Thought we were meant to be relaxing. Can't do that if you keep trying to play dress up. Or whatever this is.
[But he does end up slipping his arm back out from under his head. Does hold up a palm in a silent request for the band. If Sam's so intent on doing this, then so be it. Whatever way gets them back to being laid in bed together again the quickest.]
You really think you can hold off on kissing me?
[Cause he sure as hell wasn't doing all the work earlier.]
We're dealing with your excuse for a hairdo, not your excuse for a wardrobe. This is me being nice to you. Don't get used to it.
[ Sam hands over the hair tie with a pleased little smirk. The hand on his thigh barely registers as something unusual. They've been in each other's space to an extent where this is just another aspect of it. And yet, the way Bucky's fingers dig into the meat of Sam's thigh ever so slightly is... ]
Hold off? Nah. You ain't half bad at kissing for an old man, so why punish myself. I'd make you work for it a little harder, maybe.
[ His smirk widens into a grin, wide and a little giddy. ]
You wanna kiss me so bad, man. Basically all the time.
[ It's meant to a little goading, a little teasing. Instead Sam's smile turs a little bashful around the edges, his eyes dropping to Bucky's chest in that way Sam does whenever he's complimented and not so secretly pleased about it. His thumb tracks over the back of Bucky's hand, where it rests on Sam's thigh. ]
[It's a comment that's emphasized by the way he sits back up again. The way he leans in close, barely any space left between them as his hands move to Sam's hips. (After the hairband gets pinged off somewhere towards the other end of the room, that is.) His fingers curl around warm skin, both thumbs slipping under the edge of his shirt to rub gentle circles against his waist.]
Like you don't want to kiss me just as bad.
[That grip firms up then in an all too brief warning of what's to come. Tight enough for him to take a real hold on Sam, before he's flipping them over. Before he's twisting round to press Sam back in to the space he'd left only minutes earlier. Before he's the one claiming the space on top of the other man instead.]
Like you don't enjoy all of this.
["This" being the way his hands move to Sam's wrists, tugging them up above his head and holding him in place. There may not be any real level of restraint there, may be entirely too easy for Sam to slip free if it isn't welcome. But it at least gives him the leverage he need to duck back down again. To hover just close enough that all it'd take is the slightest dip of his chin to draw Sam back in to another kiss. Something he purposely avoids doing though. The ball is very much back in Sam's court here. And Bucky has more than enough patience to wait it out.]
[ Sam's tall and strong - to be manhandled like this and with such ease is not exactly something he's ever had to get used to before, and he can't exactly claim it to be unpleasant. Especially as he can't quite hide the way how he relaxed into the hold moments after Bucky takes it, how all tension just bleeds out of him almost involuntarily. ]
I consider it some generous community service...
[ It's muttered softly, Sam already getting distracted from his own tease as his eyes track over Bucky's face, unsure what to do with the fact that he's not sure he's ever felt as effortlessly well and truly safe as he does with Bucky pinning him and getting all in his face.
He remembers how fast the adrenaline of battle had bled out of him and left him dizzy back in Germany when they were in quite similar positions for different reasons, how it took Bucky being a monumental asshole to make annoyance flare back up enough for Sam to want to remove himself.
Huh.
Sam tilts his face slightly, brings his lips closer, angles for a kiss, but doesn't close the gap either. Instead he purposefully rolls his wrists, flexes his arms. Doesn't try to break Bucky's hold or break free, doesn't struggle - just tests how firm that hold is, watches Bucky's face and feels out his own reaction to this. Well, damn. Still interesting to test that, though. To feel how the grip is firm but not tight and painful, how he's being held and pinned but not crushed, how this is all kinds of comfortable when Sam's not sure it should be.
How there's an out here if he wants to take it. ]
I enjoy seeing that look on your face whenever you discover something I enjoy.
[ And there's something sultry to that statement, sure, a raise of an eyebrow in challenge, there's also something incredibly warm and fond in Sam's eyes, in the soft quirk of his lips, because that's true, isn't it? Bucky's rediscovering his own likes, sure, but he's learning about what Sam likes on the way, too.
Sam shifts a little, settles into this position, pleasantly surprised at how good he is with this, too. He's never been one to enjoy being restrained per se. This is different, though, and hits a sweet spot Sam hadn't been quite aware of either. There might be days when he tests that hold just for fun. But this is sort of leaning into new territory, both in terms of how easily this could be more than what they've been doing, but also in terms of very gently feeling out one another's limits. Sam's with Bucky here - happy to gently feeling along the edges with not intention to push at or tease at them. Not this time, not yet.
So he might be looking up at Bucky from half-lidded eyes. No intent there, not quite yet. Just open ended potential. His breath comes in soft, utterly relaxed little puffs against Bucky's mouth. When he speaks, their lips almost but not quite brush. ]
Almost as much as I enjoy the look on your face when you find something you enjoy...
